Purple Tea and a Hogwarts Professor

A few weeks ago, I bought a book of counted cross-stitch patterns titled From the Films of Harry Potter – The Official Hogwarts Book of Cross-stitch. One section has four bookmark patterns and while I will likely make all four at some point, I started with Professor McGonagall last week and have just about finished it. I also had ordered a new herb to make tea out of that arrived last week and today I finally got around to using it.

The tea is made of Butterfly Pea Flowers and when you brew it, it creates a blue tea. Something in my water must be a little different as rather than a true blue, it was more of a pale turquoise color. If you have a true blue brew, you just need to add a little lemon or lime juice to get a magenta color – as you can see, when I added my lemon juice, I got a very pretty purple…I felt a little tea drinking and magic color changing fun went well with my Hogwarts project and made my day a little magical. Hope you have a magical day as well, regardless of when you are reading this!
