Lately I’ve been spending time with the Divination of the Ancients card deck created by Barbara Meiklejohn-Free and Flavia Kate Peters, and today’s card invited me to reflect on the theme of knowledge.

Rather than focusing on memorizing every answer, this card reminded me that wisdom grows through curiosity, experience, and a willingness to keep learning. It encourages trusting what you’ve genuinely studied while remaining open to discovering something new.

That message resonated with me because confidence doesn’t have to mean believing we know everything. Sometimes it simply means honoring the work we’ve already done while continuing to ask thoughtful questions. The more we read, explore, and examine ideas from different perspectives, the better equipped we are to recognize what feels true and meaningful.

One aspect of this deck that continues to delight me is that every card includes fascinating historical or cultural context connected to its symbol. I’ve found myself lingering over those sections just as much as the divinatory interpretations. They turn each reading into a tiny history lesson, adding another layer of appreciation for the traditions and symbols represented throughout the deck.
