Divination and an Intro to Oracle Grove

While some people use oracle and tarot cards to predict future events, I approach divination primarily as a catalyst to spiritual growth and a deeper connection with the Divine.

I have always been one who sees, acknowledges, and pays attention to “signs of connection” which others may refer to as synchronicity, coincidence, or even wishful thinking.  When I started looking into alternative and ancient forms of spirituality, I learned that many others not only notice these signs, but specifically look for these confirmations from the Universe that they are on the right path and that their connection to the Divine is strong.

Oracle Grove is a collection of things that I have studied, learned, discovered, and created by allowing myself to be who I am, to learn about what interests me, and to trust that my own personal connection with Source/God/the Divine, is authentic and valid.  By trusting in that connection, I have felt free to study many different religions and spiritual beliefs and practices.  Some of these systems have beliefs and practices which include forms of divination used as tools to help practitioners understand more about themselves, their situations, and their connections with both the physical and spiritual worlds.

As the name of this site indicates, an important piece of connecting with the Divine, for me, is as or through an oracle.  The term oracle has many different definitions, but the two primary definitions that relate to the subject of divination are 1) the tools a person uses to converse with Source, such as tarot or oracle cards, runes, and scrying, to name just a few, and 2) the person relaying the information from Source to a person for whom they are reading, by intuitively interpreting the tools they are using.

Like many people, I was hesitant to learn about tarot and divination because of the evil connotations and perceived connections to the devil or occult.  A wonderful, kind and very caring friend introduced me to Angel Tarot in 2013 and she opened up a beautiful world for me.  After practicing with tarot and oracle cards since then and expanding into using other divination tools as well, I have learned more about myself, situations and circumstances than I ever would have expected.  The cards have helped me see deeper spiritual and psychological considerations for things that are happening or my reactions to them.  I am still not extremely comfortable with traditional tarot and avoid card decks that have very scary and dark images. I prefer the cards that make me feel like I’ve just received a warm hug from a loving Universe and been told “you got this”, but sometimes I also need the harsh reality that traditional tarot gives me.  As discussed recently with a card loving friend, oracle cards can be nice and friendly and give you the good feels, but if you need a reality check, the tarot will give you that slap in the face, wake up and take notice kind of response…when warranted.  Don’t get me wrong, tarot can be kind too, and it might just be that I tend to intuitively reach for a tarot deck when I need the harsh reality!

Of course, spirituality isn’t the only thing we experience in life, we live in a material world with varied interests.  We are spiritual beings having a mortal experience, so we need to honor that as well.  Communing regularly with our Divine Source helps us stay connected and grounded and doing things that feel productive to us with our short time on this physical plane can help us to feel fulfilled.

So, what will you get from reading my blog and joining me on my journey of growth and discovery?  Well, I have many interests, but here are a few things that are very likely to show up:

  • Tarot and oracle cards; card spreads; spread interpretations
  • Spiritual musings
  • Herbs and their uses
  • Gardening – Herbs, vegetables and flowers
  • Crocheting
  • Recipes and cooking tips
  • Jelly making
  • Puzzles and brain games
  • Crystals and their properties
  • Computer and techie subjects

As you can see, this is already a varied list and I am a self-declared geek, seeking knowledge in many places, so it is likely I will eventually cover topics I haven’t even considered yet.

Which now brings me to another definition of oracle, which is a person giving wise or authoritative decisions or opinions or an authoritative or wise expression or answer.  I am a seeker of knowledge and a strong believer in the need to be a life-long learner, so, while I cannot yet claim this definition of oracle for myself, my intention is to ever be working towards embodying this one as well.
